The new Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 (Wide) , Samsung’s widest fold yet. And here are five things you should know before buying.
Number one, it is noticeably smaller than the Z Fold 7 or the new Z Fold 8 Ultra. And the aspect ratio is also very different as well. Closed, it’s way shorter but wider. And when you open it, you get a way more immersive cinematic experience with way smaller black bars. But if I turn the Z Fold 8 Ultra into landscape orientation, you’ll see that the width is actually pretty much the same on both and the Ultra is actually just taller.
So, the Fold 8 is the more compact foldable, so to say. Number two, the same display. We get the exact same 3,000 nits as on the Ultra. So, you’re not really missing out on anything. And compared to the Fold 7, this display is just night and day. We also get the same anti-reflective coating on both and the crease is now almost impossible to see.
Then number three, we also get the exact same chip as on the Ultra, the Snapdragon 8 Legion 5 for Galaxy. So, performance is going to be just as top-notch. However, the cameras are a bit of a downgrade. We get a 50-megapixel main sensor compared to the Ultra’s 200-megapixel and there’s also no more 3x telephoto module.
Although, I don’t actually mind that. We do actually get the exact same 50-megapixel ultra-wide on both though. And number five, the price. It’s 6099 here in the UK or 200 pounds less than the Fold 8 Ultra. Honestly, I think this is a fairly great deal, but what do you guys think?
